The Collective Memory Archive was originally commissioned by Activate for the Micro-commissions Programme in 2020. The first Collective Memory Archive was an investigation into the shared history of Sherborne, Dorset. The project gathered memories that took place in Sherborne. Two walking tours of Sherborne were produced that residents and visitors could follow. The walks traced along the sites of other people's memories. By encountering these memories, participants created connections with each other, bringing the community together. The project was commissioned again for Inside Out Festival in Poole by Activate in 2021.
